Moonscape
7-3/4″x7-3/4″ Encaustic and abalone shell on cradled wood. (#23-04)
Currently showing at the Glaser Center, Santa Rosa, California, until May 31, 2024. Contact me for viewing hours.
I don’t claim to know if there are abalone shells on the moon, but I imagine (hope?) there are reflective minerals there. This is a map of part of the moon’s surface, in my dreams It is a many-textured encaustic (wax) piece, with iridescence and so much depth.
As always, virtual images and various monitors do not do justice to the depth and vibrancy of the actual painting. All my paintings are varnished, and all sides painted (if not already framed).
